| What you need more | |
| Even if the IND send your file to the
embassy to give out the MVV (travel or tourist visa) you still need to
do some more . In the
first place you are obliged to have an health insurance (Tip: Bleucross in
Manila) for your asawa for the coming
3-6 months and her/their passport has to be value. However when you
already have a Dutch partner then his health insurance is obliged
to sign you in to his insurance according to (lid 8 art.13
ziekenfondswet)as soon as you have your BSN (civilian service number). When they give out your
visa (sticker or stamp in your passport), you have to travel to the
country within 6 months. When you arrive in Europe you've to go to the
foreign police within 3 days and sign yourself in as citizen in the city
hall in the place you're going to live (when married or living together). You also have to undergo an medical
examination for tuberculoses and since 2003 refugees also needs to cooperate
with a DNA test and give their fingerprints. When you're married you have to stay with
your husband for at least 1 year, after this year your visa can be
extended for 5 years in which time (after 3 years) you already can ask for the
Dutch nationality. Extension of the visa for natural children of the
parent will be extended equal as the visa of the parent.
Your MVV is only value for 6 month and you have to request for an VVT (temporary stay permit) at the foreign police within these time. You only get your BSN number (social/tax registration or green card) when you can handover your VVT card, which you can get 6 weeks after you went to the city hall to change your MVV into a VVT . This rules are changed late 2003 / 2004. NOTE: when you immigrate to the Netherlands you are allow to take your personal belongings with you, even a car (at least 6 months old). You can only do this once (in between a year after arrival) and without paying tax for it. Personal belongings are mostly second hand and border police will control on that. (tip :wedding gifts can be new) |

| Integration | |
| Don't think that every thing will go easy, you'll meet problems in a grocery or school and you have to be prepared on discrimination ,even when people are kind when you ask their opinion about foreign people, there has not much to be happened to let them look at you as a bad intruder. Therefore its better to start to learn the language as soon as possible. City hall will oblige you to follow the integration course .(this is changed in April 2004 after then you have to do this in your own country and only allowed to entrance The Netherlands when you passed the exam.) You have to pay for this. You can meet other Filipina in your neighborhood, they will live near to you even when you don't know them yet. There are also websites where you can add for contact requests. (see our link site) | |
